Cutting-Edge Solutions With Long-Lasting Results

Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly done cosmetic medical procedures in Canada. It requires training to perform and carries potential risks. That is why it is important to have it done in a reliable laser clinic.

We use the MeDioStar laser equipment to precisely target and destroy dark, coarse hair strands and follicles without damaging the skin. Each pulse of the laser takes a fraction of a second and can treat an area approximately the size of a quarter every second.

Small areas such as the upper lip can be treated in mere minutes. On the other hand, large areas like the back or legs may take up to an hour to treat. Most patients have permanent hair loss after an average of three to seven sessions.

Preparing for Your Treatment

If you are considering undergoing laser hair removal, you must limit your hair plucking, waxing, and electrolysis for four weeks. The laser targets hair by the roots, which are temporarily removed by waxing or plucking.

You should also avoid getting exposed to the sun and using sun tanning beds or self-tanners for four weeks before and after the treatment. These can cause blistering and hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation.

Lastly, we require you to shave the hair in the area to be treated 24 hours before the treatment.

What to Expect During the Treatment

Our laser hair removal treatment is pain-free, so applying numbing creams is not necessary. Both you and our aesthetician must wear appropriate eye protection throughout the process. It is also important to protect the outer layers of your skin with a cold gel. This helps the laser light penetrate the skin.

The equipment will be adjusted to the color, thickness, and location of the hair being treated as well as your skin color. During the procedure, you might feel a warm light zapping on your skin and a slight smell of burning hair.

Aftercare

You can ease any discomfort with ice packs, anti-inflammatory creams or lotions, cool moisturizers, or cool, wet towels. You may schedule your next treatment four to six weeks later. Treatments are needed until the hair stops growing.

After a day or two, your skin on the treated area might look and feel sunburned. If your face was treated, you could wear makeup the next day. Over the next month, your treated hair will fall out.

Wearing sunscreen for the following month helps prevent temporary changes in the treated skin’s color. Although rare, blisters are more common among people with darker complexions. Other potential side effects are:

  • Redness
  • Scarring
  • Swelling
