What Causes Spider and Varicose Veins?
Healthy veins have valves that push blood in one direction back to the heart. If these weaken, some blood flows back and accumulates. In time and with continual pressure, these lead to the bulges we know as varicose and spider veins.
Many get them from sitting or standing for long periods of time most days of the week or from sunlight, hormonal changes, or even injuries. These veins also become more common with age and during pregnancy.
Some people, however, are at a higher risk of developing them due to genetics. If you have a blood relative with varicose or spider veins, then you are likely to have them too.
The Difference Between Varicose and Spider Veins
Varicose veins are enlarged veins that often twist and bulge over the skin’s surface. They may be blue, red, or flesh-colored. On the other hand, spider veins spread out like spider webs and affect capillaries, the smallest blood vessels in the body.
Aside from affecting your appearance, these damaged veins can cause serious discomfort. Some varicose veins even put you at risk of blood clots, open sores on your legs, and other health complications.
We can help you to eliminate spider and smallest veins after the sclerotherapy treatment.
Vascular Treatment Options
Laser and Skin Clinic by Aigre Bloom offers minimally invasive treatments to make small and spider veins on your legs, hands and face fade or completely disappear. They only need treatment if you don't like the way they look. Our goal is to eliminate these veins and boost your confidence.
Venous Lake Treatment For Face, Lips and Body
Venous lakes are small, dark blue to purple slightly elevated papules. The Diode Laser promotes regression of the venous lake by forced dehydration with induced photocoagulation of the lesions. Treatment with Laser is the simpliest, easiest, and least painful way to eliminate Venous lakes.
Laser Vein Treatment
Spider and small veins can be destroyed without damaging the skin by directing the laser light at the vein. Small spider veins may disappear immediately after treatment.
Veins up to 2 mm will darken and may take one to three months to disappear. Patients may need three or more treatments to clear them completely.
Preparing for the Treatment
You need to protect the area to be treated from the sun for three to four weeks. This is to avoid developing dark spots. Also, protecting your skin from the sun year-round helps prevent new spider veins from forming.
